MUMBAI, India, June 27 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202517053395 A) filed by Nippon Steel Corporation, Tokyo, on June 2, for 'skeleton structure for vehicle.'

The application for the patent was published on June 27, under issue no. 26/2025.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "A vehicle body 1 includes: a side sill 5 disposed along a front-rear direction X on a lateral portion of a vehicle; constraining portions 21, 22 that constrain longitudinal-direction ends of the side sill 5; and a center pillar 4 disposed along a direction intersecting the longitudinal direction. The side sill 5 has, in the front-rear direction X, an intermediate connection portion 50 to which the center pillar 4 connects at an intermediate section, and end connection portions 51, 52 connecting to the constraining portions 21, 22. The side sill 5 has a first portion 61 extending to both sides of the intermediate connection portion 50, and a second portion 62 positioned on the front end connection portion 51 side relative to the first portion 61. The torsional strength at the second portion 62 is lower than the torsional strength at the first portion 61."
