MUMBAI, India, May 29 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202611051944 A) filed by Chitkara University, Rajpura, Punjab, on April 23, for 'sitting assistive device.'

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "A sitting assistive device, comprising a seating unit having a seat 101 and a backrest 102 configured to accommodate a user, a motorized hinge 103 to adjust at least one of a backrest 102 recline angle and a seat 101 tilt angle, a headrest assembly comprising a curved support plate 106 coupled through a motorized ball-and- socket joint 107 to provide multi-directional repositioning of the curved support plate 106 to support and align the user's head and neck for improved cervical comfort and posture correction, an artificial intelligence based camera 108 on the seating unit the microcontroller fuses camera 108 derived posture with IMU and pressure sensor data to predictively adjust the backrest 102 recline angle and seat 101 tilt angle to maintain ergonomic alignment, a thermoelectric thermal regulation unit to provide heating and cooling to the user during therapy."
