MUMBAI, India, May 30 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202321080619 A) filed by Magna Seating Engineering India, Pune, Maharashtra, on Nov. 28, 2023, for 'single pole adjustable head restraint assembly having lock ring mechanism for automotive vehicle seat.'
Inventor(s) include Someswar Pani; and Nikhil Jannawar.
The application for the patent was published on May 30, under issue no. 22/2025.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "A single pole adjustable head restraint assembly (50) having a lock ring mechanism (55) for automotive vehicle seat is disclosed which includes a head restraint foam sub assembly (1) connected to a head restraint tube (2) and inserted to the lock ring mechanism (55) that is attached to an upper tube (4) of a seat back frame. A secondary bracket (12) having an actuation cam (8) is in connection with an actuation unit (5) and a bearing assembly (11) for aligning the head restraint tube (2). A pair of locking rings (13) is kept in a locking position by a pair of compression springs (14) on both ends of the locking rings (13) and covered by the secondary bracket (12) and attached onto a primary bracket (6) for securely retaining the locking rings (13). The compression springs (14) pushes the locking rings (13) and create friction between the locking rings (13) and the head restraint tube (2) resulting in a frictional resistance to lock the head restraint tube (2) when the actuation cam (8) is unoperated. The locking rings (13) axis align with the head restraint tube (2) axis which remove the frictional resistance so that the head restraint tube (2) is moved linearly to a desired position when the actuation cam (8) is operated by the actuation unit (5)."
