MUMBAI, India, July 11 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202511059660 A) filed by Isf College Of Pharmacy, Moga, Punjab, on June 21, for 'simultaneous estimation of atorvastatin and bampedoic acid in tablet dosage form by rp-hplc method using qbd and qsrr-based approaches.'

Inventor(s) include Sudarshan Kumar; Vivek Asati; Pavittar Singh; and Ghanshyam Das Gupta.

The application for the patent was published on July 11, under issue no. 28/2025.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "Atorvastatin is an anti-hypercholesterolemic drug used in combination with Bampedoic acid. The combination drug atorvastatin and bampedoic acid, marketed under the brand name Azotar-B80, is a treatment for hypercholesterolemia. Atorvastatin inhibits the HMG-Co reductase enzyme, which plays a major role in low-density lipid synthesis. Bampedoic acid is prodrug that inhibits the enzyme ATP-citrate lyase (ACL), which plays an important role in the cholesterol synthesis pathway in the liver. RP-HPLC method was developed on a C-18 ODS column (250mm 4.5 mm), particle size 5 m at a detection wavelength of 243 nm, using a mobile phase consists of Acetonitrile (45%): Buffer (15%) and Methanol (40%) in a isocratic elution mode at a flow rate of 1.0 ml per min for Atorvastatin and Bampedoic acid with a injection volume of 6.0 L. The retention times for Atorvastatin and Bampedoic acid were found to be 1.0 ml/min. Quantification was achieved at 243 nm wavelength using a sampler and UV-Visible detector, and the retention time of Atorvastatin and Bampedoic acid was found to be l.0 /min. The developed method shows linearity in the range of Atorvastatin and Bampedoic acid 5-25 g/ml, 5-25 g/ml. The LOD and LOQ values for Atorvastatin and Bampedoic acid 0.0491 g/ml,0.109 g/ml and 1.345 g/ml, and 3.678 g/ml. The regression coefficient for the drug was found to be 0.996-0.999. The mean recoveries ranged from 98 - 101% Atorvastatin and Bampedoic acid. A simple, rapid, precise and accurate new RP- HPLC method was developed and validated for the quantitative determination of Atorvastatin and Bampedoic acid in bulk drug and Tablet dosage form."
