MUMBAI, India, Feb. 6 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202541113584 A) filed by Ramachandrula, Venkata Ramamohan, Hyderabad, Telangana, on Nov. 18, 2025, for 'silt segregation device for duct(s) off-taking from open channels.'

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "A silt segregation device (100) for duct(s) off-taking from a channel (110) of an irrigation canal is disclosed. Said device (100) comprises of a partition (140), a slot (120) and a duct (130). The partition (140) is erected on a bed (110a) of the channel (110) and is positioned between extreme edges (110b, 110c) of the channel (110) and is configured to restrict downstream flow of water. The slot (120) is formed on the partition (140) and aligned with the bed (110a) of the channel (110) and is configured to segregate silt particles and to eject the silt particles from or to retain the silt particles within the downstream flow of the channel (110). The duct (130) is placed at an elevation from the bed (110a) and is affixed to the partition (140) and is configured to divert and transport silt-free water from the downstream flow of channel (110)."
