The application for the patent was published on Dec. 12, under issue no. 50/2025.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present invention relates to a silk fibroin based nanohydrogel for rapid wound healing and method of preparation thereof. The silk fibroin based nanohydrogel comprises; silk fibroin nanoparticles embedded within fibroin hydrogel matrix. Silver nanoparticles are generated by reducing silver nitrate in the presence of silk fibroin, which functions as a stabilizer. The nanoparticle suspension is then incorporated into a fibroin hydrogel system using an initiator, monomer, and crosslinker under controlled thermal conditions to induce gelation. The preparation yields a hydrogel with homogeneous distribution of silver nanoparticles, verified through spectroscopic and microscopic techniques. The integrated structure allows gradual release of bioactive agents, imparting both antibacterial and antioxidant activity. The combination of fibroin hydrogel and silver nanoparticles supports tissue repair, while providing a moist, flexible, and adherent wound dressing. The composition is particularly useful for treatment of both acute and chronic wounds."
