MUMBAI, India, April 20 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202514071690 A) filed by Suzuki Motor Corporation, Shizuoka, Japan, on July 28, 2025, for 'side structure for electric vehicle.'
Inventor(s) include Arai Hayato; and Sasaki Makoto.
The application for the patent was published on April 17, under issue no. 16/2026.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "[Problem to be Solved] To protect a battery pack installed on the lower side of a floor from an impact load. [Solution] A side structure for an electric vehicle includes a vehicle body frame 20, 30 disposed outside a battery pack 10 and extending in the front-rear direction, a side sill 40 that is disposed outside the vehicle body frame 20, 30 while being spaced apart from the vehicle body frame 20, 30 and extends in the front-rear direction, and a reinforcement 60 connecting a lower portion of the side sill 40 and the vehicle body frame 20, 30. The widthwise rigidity of the reinforcement 60 is set to be lower than the widthwise rigidity of the vehicle body frame 20, 30."
