MUMBAI, India, Nov. 28 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202531011194 A) filed by Siksha O Anusandhan, Bhubaneswar, Orissa, on Feb. 10, for 'shopping assistive device for disabled.'
Inventor(s) include Dr. Prabhat Ku. Sahu.
The application for the patent was published on Nov. 28, under issue no. 48/2025.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "A shopping assistive device for disabled, comprising a cuboidal housing 101 positioned over ground surface within a shopping center by means of plurality of motorized omnidirectional wheels 102 to provide translation to the housing 101 over the surface, an imaging unit 103 for capturing and processing images of surroundings to determine presence and distance of a wheelchair, motorized extendable grippers 104 each via a robotic link 105 to grip the housing 101 for attaching the housing 101 with the wheelchair in order to enable a disabled user using the wheelchair to move, a display panel 106 enable the user to provide input regarding type of the commodities that are to be shopped and extendable robotic arms 107 grip and position the user-specified commodity within the housing 101 via an opening 108 crafted top portion of the housing 101."
