MUMBAI, India, Nov. 7 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202411024919 A) filed by Chandigarh University; and Chandigarh University Technology Business Incubator, Mohali, Punjab, on March 27, 2024, for 'sheet cutting assistive device.'

The application for the patent was published on Nov. 7, under issue no. 45/2025.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "A sheet cutting assistive device, comprising an elongated body 1 having proximal and distal end wherein a handle is crafted with proximal end to acquire a grip over body 1 to position distal end over a sheet that is to be cut, a touch interactive display panel 2 mapped over body 1 to allow user to provide input regarding a shape and dimension in which sheet is to be cut, an artificial intelligence based imaging unit 3 mapped over body 1 to determine dimensions of sheet, a laser projection unit 4 installed over body 1 to project user-specified shape over sheet in accordance with user-specified dimensions, an confocal sensor is installed over body 1 to monitor thickness of sheet based on which microcontroller actuates particular link configured with evaluated blade to extend and apply pressure over sheet for cutting sheet in an efficient manner."
