MUMBAI, India, Sept. 12 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202411013463 A) filed by Chandigarh University; and Chandigarh University Technology Business Incubator, Mohali, Punjab, on Feb. 24, 2024, for 'shading device for rickshaw.'
Inventor(s) include Gurmail Singh.
The application for the patent was published on Sept. 12, under issue no. 37/2025.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "A shading device for rickshaw comprises of a threaded bar 1 arranged with either side of frame via a nut 2 and attached with each other via a set of inverted U-shaped members 3 layered with a fabric sheet 4, multiple springs 5 for tilting members 3 towards/away from each other, a sensing module for detecting presence of rain and sun in surroundings, a DC (Direct Current) electric motor to rotate bar 1 for translating bar 1 out from nut 2 which results in tilting of members 3 away from each other thus providing a shade over passengers accommodating over frame, a camera 6 for detecting distance of member from driver of rickshaw, an extendable flap 7 that extends for providing shade to driver and an extendable plate 8 for covering rear portion of rain thus preventing clothes of passengers from getting wet due to rain."
