Inventor(s) include Prof. Dr. Shital P. Dongre; Gopal Dadarao Upadhye; Ajay Gorakh Pathare; Vaishnavi Ganesh Nannajkar; Gayatri Ganesh Kantule; and Mayuri Mahadev Kumbhar.

The application for the patent was published on Jan. 9, under issue no. 02/2026.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "This invention related to solar powered IoT Smart Dustbin System. It works using renewable solar energy to efficiently manage the waste. NodeMCU(ESP8266) micrccontroller, ultrasonic sensor and MQ135 gas sensor is used to monitor the dustbin air quality and dustbin waste level. In this gas sensor is used to identify harmful gases around it and ultrasonic sensor to detect how full the dustbin is . as well solar panel used to power the system by charging a Li-ion battery through MT3608 charging module and voltage booster which allows work even without the sunlight. This invention helps in realtime monitoring also reduces manual checking and promotes people clean and smart waste management using eco friendly solar energy. It is low cost, energy efficient system suitable for homes, public areas and smart city applications."
