MUMBAI, India, Jan. 2 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202511102369 A) filed by Lovely Professional University, Phagwara, Punjab, on Oct. 24, 2025, for 'self-sustaining planting pot system with integrated water and fertilizer management.'
Inventor(s) include Dr Vikas Sharma.
The application for the patent was published on Dec. 12, under issue no. 50/2025.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "A self-sustaining planting pot system (100) integrates a planting compartment (102), a transparent water storage chamber (104), a perforated screen (106), and a syringe-like fertilizer management mechanism (108) to optimize plant growth. Water is supplied to the roots via capillary action through the perforated screen (106), while the transparent chamber (104) enables visual monitoring. Fertilizers are drawn from an external bottle and injected into the water chamber (104) using the rotatable syringe mechanism (108), ensuring uniform nutrient mixing and delivery. The system reduces manual watering, prevents over-watering, ensures precise nutrient application, and supports sustainable resource use. It is user-friendly, low-maintenance, and suitable for various small plants, making it ideal for urban gardening, home use, and small-scale cultivation, offering efficient, consistent, and environmentally responsible plant care."
