MUMBAI, India, Aug. 1 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202411006214 A) filed by Chandigarh Group Of Colleges, Mohali, Punjab, on Jan. 30, 2024, for 'self-cleaning aquarium.'

Inventor(s) include Dr. Charu Mehan; Prerna Tikku; and Namya Wadhwa.

The application for the patent was published on Aug. 1, under issue no. 31/2025.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present invention relates to an insect catching assistive device, comprising a semi-circular body 1 positioned in contact with a fixed surface, a handle 2 configured with the body 1 via a telescopically operated rod 3 for gripping the body 1 by a user, a camera 4 mounted on the body 1 detecting presence of insects, a chamber 5 installed with the body 1 dispensing fragrance to insects, a plate 6 configured with the body 1 preventing insect from escaping from the body 1, a suction unit 7 configured with the body 1 for withdrawing and transferring the insect into a vessel 8 paired with the suction unit 7 and a C-shaped member 9 installed on the handle 2 for securing user's hand on the handle 2."
