MUMBAI, India, Feb. 27 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641017978 A) filed by Srm Institute Of Science And Technology; and Easwari Engineering College, Chennai, Tamil Nadu, on Feb. 18, for 'seismic resilience of hybrid structures seismic perfomance assesment of steel-timber composite structural system.'

Inventor(s) include Dr. N. Manikandan; Mr. Praveen Raja R; Dr. S. D. Kumar; Dr. A. Mathivanan; Dr. T. Mothilal; Dr Manibalan P; Mr. M. Krishna; Dr. V. M. Jothiprakash; Dr. Vigneshwaran S; and Dr. P. Vasanth Kumar.

The application for the patent was published on Feb. 27, under issue no. 09/2026.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "Hybrid structures enhance seismic resilience by combining materials and technologies to leverage their individual strengths, leading to better energy dissipation, self-centering capabilities, and reduced post-earthquake damage compared to traditional structures. This involves systems like self-centering systems using smart materials, the integration of viscoelastic dampers and friction dampers, and the combination of steel and reinforced concrete elements."
