MUMBAI, India, Aug. 8 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202411006955 A) filed by Chandigarh Group Of Colleges, Mohali, Punjab, on Feb. 1, 2024, for 'secured circular drilling device.'

Inventor(s) include Dr. Deepak Dadwal; Dr. Rinkesh Mittal; Dr. Rachin Goyal; Piyush Kumar; Nandita; and Sami Akhtar.

The application for the patent was published on Aug. 8, under issue no. 32/2025.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "A secured circular drilling device, comprising a platform 1 attached with multiple wheels 4 for maneuvering the platform 1, a display panel 2 arranged with the platform 1 enabling user's input commands, an imaging unit 3 installed on the platform 1 detecting location to be drilled on fixed surface, multiple telescopic rods 5 integrated with wheels 4 extending/retracting platform 1, a bar 6 arranged on the platform 1 integrated with a cylindrical member 7 via a sliding unit 8 and supported via a motorized clamp 9 for translating the member 7 towards the surface, plurality of sharp edged wedges 10 assembled on member 7 for performing drilling operation, a pair of plates 11 arranged with the member 7 for collecting debris and multiple suction units 12 integrated on the plates 11 for extracting and storing debris into a waste bin 13 assembled on platform 1."
