MUMBAI, India, March 14 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202514076899 A) filed by Distance Technologies Oy, Helsinki, on Aug. 12, 2025, for 'secondary reflection compensation.'
Inventor(s) include Mikko Strandborg; and Urho Konttori.
The application for the patent was published on March 13, under issue no. 11/2026.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "For a region of an image, a portion of a semi-reflective surface (112) of an optical combiner (104) from which light rays of the given region (118) are reflected towards eyes (114a-114b) of a user during display via a display unit (102) is determined. For this portion of the semi-reflective surface, a secondary reflection intensity of light rays of another region (120) of the image that undergo secondary reflection from a portion of another surface (116) of the optical combiner (opposite to the semi-reflective surface) is determined. A minimum intensity level of pixels in the image is increased. Intensity values of pixels in said region of the image are adjusted based on the secondary reflection intensity. The image is displayed via the display unit, thereby producing a synthetic light field (122). The optical combiner reflects the synthetic light field towards the eyes, whilst optically combining the synthetic light field with a real-world light field."
