MUMBAI, India, Oct. 31 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202411024814 A) filed by Chandigarh Group Of Colleges, Mohali, Punjab, on March 27, 2024, for 'seating support device for physically disabled.'

Inventor(s) include Dr. Saurabh Sharma; Peeyush Kaushik; Dr. Supriya Agnihotri; Milan Rohila; and Rupal Sharma.

The application for the patent was published on Oct. 31, under issue no. 44/2025.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "A seating support device for physically disabled, comprising a curved-shaped extendable body 1 accommodated around waist portion of a physically disabled user seated over a chair, a pair of elongated telescopically operated members 2 to be secured with backrest of chair, a microphone 3 received command for securing body 1 with user's waist portion, a laser sensor detects dimensions of user's waist portion, a drawer arrangement extends body 1 for positioning first and second end of body 1 in contact with each other, a telescopically operated link 4 extends and inserts in a hole 5 carved in second end, a pneumatic pin locks link 4 in hole 5, an artificial intelligence-based imaging unit 6 detects height of backrest, two motorized hinges 7 deploys a pair of curved-shaped units 8 for engaging members 2 with backrest of chair, a U-shaped bar 9 prevents preventing user from falling off chair."
