MUMBAI, India, April 10 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202411073941 A) filed by Chandigarh Group Of Colleges, Mohali, Punjab, on Sept. 30, 2024, for 'scratch locating device for cars.'

Inventor(s) include Satwinder Singh; Dr. Amresh Kumar; Sukhvir Singh; Divya Sharma; Aviraj Rohilla; and Kuldeep Singh.

The application for the patent was published on April 10, under issue no. 15/2026.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "A scratch locating device for cars, comprising a telescopic arm 1 having an elongated cylindrical arm 1 for a user to acquire a grip onto the arm 1, a semicircular flap 3 for supporting a forearm 1 of the user, a rectangular plate 4 having plurality of light emitting diodes 5 for angularly emitting a light onto a surface of a car for locating a scratch, an imaging unit 7 to determine the scratch, an L-shaped telescopic bar 8 having a marker pen 9 to create an indication near the located scratch for a reference of the user and an angle sensor to detects an angle of the car surface for positioning the plate 4 with light emitting diodes 5 at a predetermined angle with respect to the car surface for locating the scratch."
