MUMBAI, India, Sept. 12 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202411013255 A) filed by Chandigarh University; and Chandigarh University Technology Business Incubator, Mohali, Punjab, on Feb. 23, 2024, for 'sanitization assistive device for disabled.'

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "A sanitization assistive device for disabled, comprising a semi cylindrical body 1 positioned beneath a washbasin to cover drainage pipe of washbasin, an artificial intelligence based camera 3 detecting user's height as well as distance between basin and body 1 for actuating wheels 2 for positioning beneath wash basin, plurality of flaps 4 attached at a first side of body 1 to via multiple motorized sliders 5 to slide a specific flap 4 out of body 1 for allowing user to stand over flap 4 to reach up to washbasin, a U-shaped member 6 attached at first side of body 1 via a motorized hinge 7 provide an angular motion to member 6 for providing a support to user while washing hands/face over washbasin, and multiple plates 8 deployed by microcontroller for eliminating chances of spillage of water over ground surface."
