MUMBAI, India, Feb. 6 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202511133797 A) filed by Chitkara University, Solan, Himachal Pradesh, on Dec. 30, 2025, for 'safety system for a cloth iron.'

The application for the patent was published on Feb. 6, under issue no. 06/2026.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "A safety system for a cloth iron, comprising a sensing array 101 for detecting proximity of a sensitive surface including skin of a user and a delicate fabric, a switch 102 regulating an energy supply to heating element of the iron, a temperature sensor 103 for detecting an instant temperature of the soleplate, to enable regulation of the switch 102, a safety module configured with a control unit to determine proximity of the soleplate from skin of user, a visual indicator 104 indicating a hazardous condition defined by the distance between the soleplate and the skin of user, a cooling means 105 rapidly reducing temperature of the soleplate, a user interface installable with a computing unit 107 receiving remote alerts regarding occurrence of hazardous condition, and a vibration unit 106 providing haptic alert upon detection of the hazardous condition."
