MUMBAI, India, May 29 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202611050927 A) filed by Chitkara University, Mohali, Punjab, on April 21, for 'safety helmet for a rider.'

Inventor(s) include Pratham; Dr. Rupinder Singh; Dr. Jaiteg Singh; Dr. Jaswinder Singh; Dr. Deepika Chaudhary; and Dr. Maninderjit Singh Khanna.

The application for the patent was published on May 29, under issue no. 22/2026.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "A safety helmet for a rider, comprising a helmet shell 101 to be worn on a head of the rider, a visor assembly operatively coupled to an embedded microcontroller to provide a display region 102 for presenting visual cues and alerts to the rider, a head-fit module 103 disposed within the helmet shell 101 to ensure a secure and adjustable fit, a sensor suite disposed with the helmet shell 101 to monitor riding conditions, surrounding environment, and rider state in real time, an alert module provides haptic and visual alerts to the rider during critical conditions, a mandible protection unit 110 to provide enhanced lower facial protection and absorb impact during sudden or critical riding conditions, a wireless communication unit enables location tracking and communication, to enable seamless communication, real-time information exchange, and responsive interaction between the rider and the helmet."
