MUMBAI, India, July 25 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202514001890 A) filed by Illinois Tool Works Inc., Glenview, U.S.A., on Jan. 8, for 'roadway simulator with limited energized operating state.'

Inventor(s) include Senft, Victor; Melcher, David James; Sunderman, Marlin Jay; Zieman, Rick Lee; and Staup, Scott Loren.

The application for the patent was published on July 25, under issue no. 30/2025.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "A roadway simulator comprises: a rotatable assembly for rotating a wheel and a restraint couplable to a vehicle. The restraint includes a first actuator to position an end of the restraint proximate the vehicle and/or a second actuator to couple the restraint to the vehicle. A controller operates the simulator in a lockout state wherein power is isolated from the simulator that inhibits operation for conducting a test including isolating electrical power from a rotatable drive assembly for the rotatable assembly and an actuator drive assembly for the first actuator and/or the second actuator. The controller operates the simulator in a limited energized state wherein testing of the vehicle is inhibited due to continued isolation of electrical power to the rotatable drive assembly and wherein electrical power is restored to the actuator drive assembly for the first actuator and/or the second actuator."
