MUMBAI, India, Jan. 9 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202511114212 A) filed by Manipal University, Jaipur, Rajasthan, on Nov. 20, 2025, for 'rent pe - a peer-to-peer rental platform.'

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present invention relates to Rent Pe, a digital peer-to-peer rental platform that enables users to rent or lend everyday items within their local area. The platform comprises KYC-based user verification, secure payment and refundable damage-deposit processing, smart rental duration tracking with automated reminders, and AI-powered video condition assessment for dispute-free transactions. A QR-code-based pickup and return mechanism ensures transparent handovers between parties. The system allows item owners to list products with rental terms, while renters can search, request, and use items temporarily without purchasing them. Rent Pe promotes affordability, resource optimization, and sustainability by enabling efficient sharing of idle consumer items and supporting a circular economy."
