MUMBAI, India, Oct. 11 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202517091562 A) filed by Danisco US Inc., Palo Alto, U.S.A., on Sept. 24, for 'reduced fermentation glycerol and acetate using yeast expressing rubisco from gallionella capsiferriformans.'
Inventor(s) include Tuminello, Joseph F.
The application for the patent was published on Oct. 10, under issue no. 41/2025.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present compositions and methods relate to modified yeast cells that heterologously express the RuBisCo enzyme from a particular species of iron-oxidizing bacteria. The modified yeast cells demonstrate reduced glycerol and acetate accumulation in fermentation, while maintaining high ethanol production, making them useful for large-scale ethanol production from starch substrates, where glycerol and acetate represent undesirable by-products."
The patent application was internationally filed on Mar. 26, 2024, under International application No.PCT/US2024/021531.
