MUMBAI, India, Sept. 26 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202517085084 A) filed by Lanxess Deutschland Gmbh, Koln, Germany, on Sept. 8, for 'recovery of phosphorus compounds and iron compounds from lfp/lfmp-containing materials.'

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The invention relates to a process for obtaining phosphorus compounds and iron compounds from LFP- and/or LFMP-containing materials, characterized by i) reacting an LFP- and/or LFMP-containing material with chlorine gas in the presence of a carbon source at a temperature of 300 to 900 C and ii) removing the formed chlorophosphorus compounds, more particularly phosphorus oxychloride and optionally phosphorus trichloride and iron chloride in an off-gas flow, and iii) separating from the off-gas flow the iron chloride and iv) the chlorophosphorus compounds at different temperatures."
The patent application was internationally filed on Feb. 07, 2024, under International application No.PCT/EP2024/053009.
