MUMBAI, India, Feb. 27 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641018070 A) filed by Vellore Institute Of Technology, Vellore, Tamil Nadu, on Feb. 18, for 'rear-mounted textile cultivation system for solar modules using upcycled fabric.'
Inventor(s) include Patel Urvashi Rameshbhai; and Dr. Suprava Chakraborty.
The application for the patent was published on Feb. 27, under issue no. 09/2026.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "A rear-mounted cultivation system for a solar photovoltaic module includes a solar photovoltaic module (504) having a front surface configured to receive solar radiation and a rear surface, a textile material (500) configured with a plurality of cultivation pockets (502), each cultivation pocket (502) being configured to receive a growing medium (506) and support plant cultivation, and an attachment mechanism (510) configured to secure the textile material (500) to the solar photovoltaic module (504) such that the plurality of cultivation pockets (502) are positioned adjacent to the rear surface of the solar photovoltaic module (504). The textile material (500) is attached to a solar module frame (504) through Velcro attachments (510). A frame support structure (508) maintains the system in an angled position, and a base support (512) provides a stable foundation."
