MUMBAI, India, July 5 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202311086069 A) filed by Mercedes-Benz Group Ag, Stuttgart, Germany, on Dec. 16, 2023, for 'rear impact absorption assembly for a vehicle.'
Inventor(s) include Akhilesh Kollipara; Amit Chakraborty; and Mohan Krishna Pulakunta.
The application for the patent was published on July 4, under issue no. 27/2025.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present disclosure elaborates upon a rear impact absorption assembly (200) for a vehicle, the assembly (200) comprising: a connecting member (206) configured to connect a rear end of a pair of long members (202) to a front end of a rear crash beam (204) associated with the vehicle, wherein the pair of long members (202) are offset from the rear crash beam (204); wherein the connecting member (206) has a height greater than a height of the rear end of the long members (202), the connecting member (206) is configured such that the off-set between the long members (202) and the rear crash beam (204) is compensated, which facilitates transfer of an energy of a rear impact on the vehicle from the rear crash beam (204) towards the long members (202) in a substantially linear direction."
