MUMBAI, India, Nov. 28 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202531106421 A) filed by Rahul Kumar Singh; Ajay Kumar; Gunjan Mittal; Tanu Gupta; Abhinav Raghav; Avadhesh Kumar Gupta; and Chhavi Sharma, Patna, Bihar, on Nov. 3, for 'real time mental health monitoring using smartwatch with integrated facial expression and behavioral analysis.'

Inventor(s) include Ajay Kumar; Gunjan Mittal; Tanu Gupta; Abhinav Raghav; Avadhesh Kumar Gupta; Chhavi Sharma; and Rahul Kumar Singh.

The application for the patent was published on Nov. 28, under issue no. 48/2025.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "This research explores the development of a real-time mental health monitoring system leveraging smartwatch technology integrated with facial expression and behavioral analysis. The proposed system utilizes multimodal data, captured from smartwatch sensors (heart rate, sleep patterns, and temperature) and an embedded camera for facial expression recognition-to assess the psychological state of individuals. By employing advanced deep learning algorithms, the system preprocesses, analyzes, and fuses these heterogeneous data streams to classify mental health conditions into categories such as normal, mild, high, or suicidal risk. The inclusion of a dynamic alert and notification module ensures timely intervention by notifying caregivers or healthcare professionals in critical situations. The research emphasizes temporal variations and correlations between physiological and behavioral signals to enhance prediction accuracy. This model aims to provide an intelligent, non-invasive, and continuous monitoring solution."
