MUMBAI, India, Feb. 6 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641007175 A) filed by Cvr College Of Engineering, Hyderabad, Telangana, on Jan. 24, for 'real-time fall and activity detection using ai-enabled iot devices..'

Inventor(s) include Dr. Malleswari Akurati.

The application for the patent was published on Feb. 6, under issue no. 06/2026.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present invention provides an AI-enabled IoT device-based real time general designated medical monitoring tool for the continuous monitoring of patients. Wearable sensors (such as smart watches, fitness trackers, etc.) will collect human movement data that will be locally processed by an "edge" computing unit that will have the ability to classify the user's daily activities and detect if a fall occurred with minimal latency. An AI-based inference engine and a method to temporally validate the results both help to improve the accuracy of our detection as well as minimize false positives by evaluating a multitude of factors. When the presence of a fall is confirmed, the device is able to send a real time alert to the caregiver or emergency medical services using a wireless communication medium."
