Abstract: This,invention,proposes,a-rsifttnp„fmtelerehabilitation,that serves as a tool for , the assessment of hand motor functions and hand rehabilitation, which uses EMG signals. The therapist side of the setup contains a device that includes EMG sensors for the measurement of muscle signals when the fingers are 10 moved, a bio- amplifier for the condition of the signal, and a module that processes the signals into movement of the fingers. The signal wirelessly communicates with a robotic hand at the patient side by a lightweight, low-latency, bidirectional communication link. The robot hand, operated via a servo-robot, assists the patient through exercises. This robot hand enables 15 individual finger movement, helping the patient through exercises. During the time the hand operates, the resistance, which depends on the movement impairment, can be deduced from the way the actuators behave and can thus be transmitted back to the therapist's side, where the same movement is replicated through the robotic hand. It can also utilize the prerecorded EMG 20 datasets from the bio-amplification kit to define the activation threshold values for each finger and adjust the amount of assistive actuation based on the resistance estimate. By allowing two-way interactions and finger monitoring, the need for clinic visits is reduced. Overall, the system is a viable option for a cost-effective and sensor-light solution for tele-operated and real-time hand rehabilitation.
