MUMBAI, India, May 29 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202631032873 A) filed by Narula Institute Of Technology, Kolkata, West Bengal, on March 18, for 'real-time biometric attendance logging system based on facial image recognition.'
Inventor(s) include Mr. Suman Kumar Bhattacharyya; Dr. Neepa Biswas; Dr. Suchismita Maiti; Mr. Anirban Bhar; Ms. Shreya Dutta Banik; and Mr. Arghyadeeep Acharjee.
The application for the patent was published on May 29, under issue no. 22/2026.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The invention provides an automated safety system for railway level crossings, designated as RailSecure, which utilizes a microcontroller-coupled sensor fusion array to manage traffic and prevent collisions. The system integrates IR, ultrasonic, and LiDAR sensors to detect approaching trains and monitor the crossing area for stalled vehicles or obstructions. It operates through a tripartite protocol: Protection (automated gate and alarm control), Escape (emergency detection and real-time GSM/Cloud alerting to railway authorities), and Projection (dynamic visual warnings based on train kinematics). By automating the crossing logic and providing real-time data to both road users and train operators, the system mitigates the risks associated with unmanned crossings and ensures a fail-safe mechanism for emergency scenarios."
