MUMBAI, India, Feb. 6 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202541087898 A) filed by Vidyavardhaka College Of Engineering, Mysuru, Karnataka, on Sept. 16, 2025, for 'real-time ai posture risk detection system using rula and reba based ergonomic assessment.'
Inventor(s) include Dr. Shreyas M; Prof. Sudharshan N; Dr. Vinay K B; Dr. Bharath P; P G Ayush Rai; and Aashish A Shirahatti.
The application for the patent was published on Feb. 6, under issue no. 06/2026.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "This invention presents a real-time ergonomic posture risk detection system that integrates computer vision, artificial intelligence, and established ergonomic assessment methods (RULA/REBA) to continuously monitor and evaluate human posture in dynamic work environments. The system comprises a camera-based image acquisition module, an AI-driven pose estimation engine, and an algorithmic framework for automatic calculation of RULA/REBA scores based on skeletal joint angles. By providing instant feedback and alerts when high-risk postures are detected, as well as comprehensive data logging for ergonomic audits, the invention eliminates subjectivity, enables continuous monitoring, and facilitates early intervention to prevent work-related musculoskeletal disorders (WRMSDs) across various industries."
