MUMBAI, India, Jan. 9 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202421083366 A) filed by Mr. Vishal Katariya; Dr. Vivek Wayse; Mr. Pradeep Diwate; and Mr. Jitendra Hegde, Pune, Maharashtra, on Oct. 30, 2024, for 'rapid snake venom detection kit.'
Inventor(s) include Dr. Vivek Wayse.
The application for the patent was published on Dec. 12, under issue no. 50/2025.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "A rapid snake venom detection kit to detect the presence of venom in one minute. The kit comprises of a sample pad (1) for loading test sample, having thickness 370 m and dimensions 1.5cm x 3mm; a gold conjugate pad (2) with dimensions 0.5cm x 3mm and with immobilized primary polyvalent antibodies specific to snake venom labelled with colored colloidal gold particle of size 20-40nm, a nitrocellulose membrane (3) with a test line and a control line to enable detection of venom in the blood sample and absorbing pad (6). The primary polyvalent antibody specific to venom is raised in horse against four snakes that include Indian cobra, Common krait, Russell's viper, Saw-scaled viper. The polyvalent equine raised primary antibodies are coated on the conjugate pad (2) and test line."
