MUMBAI, India, April 10 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202411072437 A) filed by Amity University, Noida, Uttar Pradesh, on Sept. 25, 2024, for 'rapid and eco-friendly method of fabrication of dendritic bivo4 mesocrystals using curcumin for enhanced photocatalytic degradation of 2,4-d (2,4-dichlorophenoxyacetic acid).'
Inventor(s) include Seema Garg; Amrish Chandra; and Harshita Chawla.
The application for the patent was published on April 10, under issue no. 15/2026.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present invention discloses a rapid and eco-friendly method for fabricating dendritic BiVO4 mesocrystals using bio-organic curcumin for enhanced photocatalytic degradation of 24-D, a persistent herbicide. The synthesis, performed at 60 C for one hour, yields highly efficient BiVO4 photocatalysts that degrade 70.25% of 24-D under visible light irradiation, compared to 45.94% for pristine BiVO4. Morphological and structural analyses confirm the formation of a curcumin-BiVO4 heterojunction that enhances the photocatalytic activity. The invention offers a sustainable approach for environmental remediation by providing an efficient method for degrading recalcitrant pollutants."
