MUMBAI, India, Sept. 12 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202411012469 A) filed by Chandigarh University; and Chandigarh University Technology Business Incubator, Mohali, Punjab, on Feb. 21, 2024, for 'railway track inspection device.'

Inventor(s) include Harpreet Singh.

The application for the patent was published on Sept. 12, under issue no. 37/2025.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "A railway track inspection device, comprises of a platform 1 assembled with motorized omnidirectional grooved wheels 2 positioned on a railway track, a touch enabled screen 3 to give input commands for carrying out inspection of the railway track, along with selecting length of the tracks to be inspected, an electronic nozzle 4 for dispensing the paint on the railway track to mark a spot, a GPS (Global Positioning System) module for fetching exact location of the platform 1, a camera 6 for detecting tracks on the rails, an acoustic sensor for detecting level of noise originating from the track during motion of the platform 1 over the tracks, and a pair of sliders 7 for translating the wheels 2 towards/away from each other due to inaccurate distance between the rails of the tracks."
