MUMBAI, India, July 5 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202311088291 A) filed by Chandigarh University; and Chandigarh University Technology Business Incubator, Mohali, Punjab, on Dec. 22, 2023, for 'rail tunnel cooling system.'
Inventor(s) include Shivam Pandey; Kavita; Ayon Somaddar; Aman Kaushik; Kangan Arora; and Ramanjot Kaur.
The application for the patent was published on July 4, under issue no. 27/2025.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "A rail tunnel cooling system, comprises of an artificial intelligence-based imaging unit 1 installed on a locomotive 2 for detecting presence of a tunnel 7 near the locomotive 2, a proximity sensor 3 for detecting distance between locomotive 2 and entrance of the tunnel 7, multiple electronically controlled nozzles 4 connected to a waste water chamber 5 assembled in an air conditioning unit for dispensing water towards a pair of top-opened pipelines 6 installed at lateral sides of the tunnel 7, an inclination is maintained during installation of the pipeline for transferring water into a drainage tank 8, a temperature sensor for detecting water temperature and a pump 9 for pumping water from tank 8 towards the tank 8 in order to cool-down the tunnel 7 and combat the heat within the tunnel 7."
