MUMBAI, India, Sept. 12 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202517079042 A) filed by Jfe Steel Corporation, Tokyo, on Aug. 20, for 'rail and method of producing same.'
Inventor(s) include Ando Keisuke; Ohtsubo Hirofumi; and Honjo Minoru.
The application for the patent was published on Sept. 12, under issue no. 37/2025.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "Provided is a rail in which the rail bottom has excellent fatigue crack propagation resistance. The rail has a composition containing 0.70-1.20 mass% C, 0.10-1.20 mass% Si, 0.10-1.50 mass% Mn, 0.035 mass% or less P, 0.020 mass% or less S, 0.05-2.00 mass% Cr, with the remainder being Fe and unavoidable impurities. The area ratio of a pearlite structure at a depth position of 1 mm from the surface of the rail bottom is 95% or more, and the HC value represented by formula (1) satisfies formula (2). Formula (1): HC = {(12 [%C]) + ([%Si]/10) + ([%Mn]/20) + ([%Cr]/18)}2. Formula (2): HC = (120 GS)/(1.1 BS)."
The patent application was internationally filed on Jan. 16, 2024, under International application No.PCT/JP2024/001016.
