MUMBAI, India, Jan. 2 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202541122240 A) filed by Vellore Institute Of Technology, Vellore, Tamil Nadu, on Dec. 4, 2025, for 'radiation-hardened flip-flop using dice and quatro cell architecture.'
Inventor(s) include Dr. Aarthy M; and Ms. Sreepriya B.
The application for the patent was published on Jan. 2, under issue no. 01/2026.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present disclosure provides a radiation-hardened flip-flop circuit comprising a Dual Interlocked Storage Cell (DICE) architecture having four interconnected storage nodes configured to store complementary data values, wherein each storage node is cross-coupled with adjacent storage nodes through feedback inverters to provide protection against single-node upsets, a Quatro Cell architecture integrated with the DICE architecture and having four interleaved storage elements with distributed charge-sharing mitigation configured to prevent multiple-node upsets by spreading transient fault effects across multiple nodes, a clock-gated transistor control mechanism having NMOS and PMOS transistors coupled to clock signals CLK and NCK, wherein the clock-gated transistor control mechanism selectively activates feedback loops during active clock edges to minimize dynamic power consumption and prevent unwanted state transitions, and complementary output terminals Q and Qbar configured to provide stable digital outputs with enhanced soft-error resilience against radiation-induced disturbances."
