MUMBAI, India, Jan. 2 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202541123279 A) filed by Vellore Institute Of Technology, Vellore, Tamil Nadu, on Dec. 6, 2025, for 'quantum support vector machine with explainable ai for heart disease prediction.'

Inventor(s) include Dr. Vijayarajan V; and Ms. Divina Pooja John.

The application for the patent was published on Jan. 2, under issue no. 01/2026.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present disclosure provides a quantum support vector machine system for heart disease prediction. The system includes a data preprocessing module that receives patient medical data and performs feature normalization, missing value imputation, and feature selection. A quantum feature encoding module applies quantum feature maps including ZZFeatureMap and PauliFeatureMap to generate quantum-encoded feature vectors. A memory-aware synopses module computes feature importance scores and selects informative features to reduce computational complexity. A quantum kernel computation module evaluates quantum kernel matrices representing similarity measures between data points in quantum feature space. A quantum support vector machine classifier trains on the quantum kernel matrices to generate a trained quantum model for binary heart disease classification. An explainable artificial intelligence module generates SHAP values quantifying individual feature contributions to provide interpretable visualizations for clinical decision support."
