MUMBAI, India, April 10 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202411073937 A) filed by Chandigarh Group Of Colleges, Mohali, Punjab, on Sept. 30, 2024, for 'protective bird feeding assistive device.'

Inventor(s) include Dr. Seema Rani; Shailee Thakur; Naina Jariyal; and Preeti Ban.

The application for the patent was published on April 10, under issue no. 15/2026.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "A protective bird feeding assistive device, comprising a hexagonal shaped body 1 configured with a hook 2 accessed by a user to hang the body 1 on a screw installed on a fixed support, multiple chambers 3 arranged with flaps integrated in the body 1 for storing multiple types of seeds/grains, a circular plate 4 arranged in the body 1 for enabling a bird to get accommodated on the plate, a canopy-like structure 5 installed on upper portion of the body 1 by means of multiple links 7 integrated with multiple motorized hinge joints for deploying over the birds to protect the birds from the rainy weather conditions, an imaging unit 6 installed on the body 1 to determine an approaching wild animal/bird towards the body 1, multiple rollers 8 coiled with a sheet 9 arranged on the body 1 to rotate for unwrapping the sheet 9."
