MUMBAI, India, Jan. 8 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202511105673 A) filed by Chitkara University; and Chitkara Innovation Incubator Foundation, Rajpura, Punjab, on Oct. 31, 2025, for 'prosthetic device for physically challenged users.'
Inventor(s) include Dr. Neelam Dahiya; Aryan Jindal; Dr. Deepika Chaudhary; and Dr. Nishu Bali.
The application for the patent was published on Dec. 12, under issue no. 50/2025.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "A prosthetic device for physically challenged users, comprising an exoskeleton designed to be mounted over the hand of a user, the exoskeleton comprises a hollow structure 101 wearable over the wrist of the user, and a robotic hand 102 connected to the structure 101 via an articulated extendable rod 103, the robotic hand 102 is fastened to the user's hand to accentuate intended movements, and the robotic hand 102 includes multiple articulated fingers 104 rotatably connected to a palm portion 105 attached to the extendable rod 103, a sensing unit 108 detects movements performed by the hand, a BCI module comprises plurality of EEG (Electroencephalogram) for detecting neural signals, a driving assistive unit assists the user in driving a two-wheeled vehicle, a camera 109 detecting obstacles in a route, and ultrasonic sensor measuring distances and dimensions of obstacles, enabling the exoskeleton to operate vehicle's brake and clutch for safe navigation."
