MUMBAI, India, Aug. 1 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202517065028 A) filed by Nutrition & Biosciences USA 4 Inc. Rochester, U.S.A., on July 8, for 'production of omega-hydroxy fatty acids and their derivatives using engineered cells.'

Inventor(s) include Baer, Zachary; Bostick, Michael W.; Chen, Zhongqiang; Fan, Xiaochun; Qi, Min; Wang, Yehong Jamie; Xue, Zhixiong; and Zhu, Quinn Qun.

The application for the patent was published on Aug. 1, under issue no. 31/2025.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "Methods for producing macrocyclic molecules, particularly omega-hydroxy fatty acids, are described. The methods involve the use of engineered cells having modified biochemical pathways that allow them to efficient produce omega-hydroxy fatty acids from C16 precursors. The resulting omega-hydroxy fatty acids are useful for the production of perfumes and other scented consumer products."

The patent application was internationally filed on Jan. 09, 2024, under International application No.PCT/EP2024/050391.
