MUMBAI, India, Nov. 28 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202331082313 A) filed by Indiano New Materials Private Limited, Ranchi, Jharkhand, on June 4, 2024, for 'production of low-carbon or ultra-low carbon ferroalloys in vacuum-oxygen-decarburization using high-carbon or medium-carbon ferroalloys.'
Inventor(s) include Rajeev Biyani; and Rahul Agrawal.
The application for the patent was published on Nov. 28, under issue no. 48/2025.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present invention discloses a method and system for producing ultra-low carbon ferroalloys using high- or medium-carbon ferroalloy feedstock. The process integrates electric arc furnace (EAF) melting and vacuum oxygen decarburization (VOD) to achieve controlled carbon removal. The technique eliminates the need for expensive and hazardous reductants, ensuring safer and more economical production of high-quality ferroalloys such as ULC-ferromanganese and ULC-ferrochromium."
