MUMBAI, India, Sept. 26 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202517085575 A) filed by Nippon Steel Corporation, Tokyo, on Sept. 9, for 'production method of electric resistance welded steel pipe and electric resistance welded steel pipe.'

Inventor(s) include Yamashita Satoru; and Kobayashi Akinobu.

The application for the patent was published on Sept. 26, under issue no. 39/2025.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "Provided is a method for manufacturing an electric resistance welded steel pipe, the method including: an end face shaping step for forming an outer inclined portion inclined in a plate thickness direction from an outer surface side toward an inner surface side, or forming the outer inclined portion and an inner inclined portion inclined in the plate thickness direction from the inner surface side toward the outer surface side, on each of a first end face and a second end face on both sides in the width direction of a plated steel sheet, such that the first end face and the second end face have a shape in which the plate thickness decreases from the center in the width direction toward the end faces; and a pipe making step for abutting and welding the shaped first end face and second end face together to form a pipe. This suppresses a deterioration in corrosion resistance around a welded portion in an electric resistance welded steel pipe having a plated steel sheet as a starting plate."

The patent application was internationally filed on Oct. 05, 2023, under International application No.PCT/JP2023/036365.
