MUMBAI, India, March 14 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202637026283 A) filed by Unilever Global Ip Limited, Wirral, U.K., on March 5, for 'process to produce materials.'
Inventor(s) include Cook, Andrew Thomas John; Jones, Craig Warren; John Karunakaran, Esther Purna Nithila; Macinnes, Jordan M; O'Keeffe, Joanne Clare; and Singh, Sukriti.
The application for the patent was published on March 13, under issue no. 11/2026.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "Process to manufacture an end substrate selected from esters, fatty acid esters, acids, alcohols, aldehydes, apocarotenoids, and sesquiterpenes; wherein a suitable precursor fluid material is added to a rotating spiral bioreactor having a spiral channel which is coated with a biofilm; wherein the biofilm material contains a material which is a catalyst for the conversion of the precursor material to the end substrate material; wherein the catalyst material is selected from: yeast, mould, fungus, bacteria or enzyme, preferably yeast, bacteria or enzyme, more preferably a yeast; characterised in that the spiral channel rotates while the precursor fluid material is within the biofilm coated spiral channel for a period of time; followed by removal of the resulting end substrate."
