MUMBAI, India, Feb. 27 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202421077488 A) filed by Shweta Viraraghavan, Pune, Maharashtra, on Oct. 12, 2024, for 'process of producing paraffin and olefin enrich bio-oil.'
Inventor(s) include Shweta Viraraghavan; Radhika Viraraghavan; and Viraraghavan Sankaran.
The application for the patent was published on Feb. 27, under issue no. 09/2026.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "Disclosed is a process of producing a paraffin and olefin enrich bio-oil from a biomass feedstock. In order to increase the residence time and cracking efficiency of the bio-vapor produced from the biomass, the present invention integrates a thermocracking reactor (TCR) to additional thermal cracking units (TCU-1, TCU-2) in a cracking process for conversion of the bio-oil to a hydrocarbon stream rich in paraffins and olefins. The process of the present invention reduces batch time for thermo-cracking and increases the biofuel yield."
