MUMBAI, India, June 27 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202331081743 A) filed by Metal & Steel Factory, Ishapore, West Bengal, on Dec. 1, 2023, for 'process of manufacturing of steel up-setted cups from round steel blanks of desired diameter and thickness using cold reverse extrusion process.'
Inventor(s) include Rahul Mishra; and N. B. Das.
The application for the patent was published on June 27, under issue no. 26/2025.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "This invention is related to the field of cold extrusion process followed by multi stage cold draws operations along with inter stage heat treatment (annealing) to manufacture steel cartridge cases for making ammunition for guns used in Air Force, Army and Naval Ships, more particularly it is a new manufacturing process of cartg. case by combining cold reverse extrusion and cold draw along with wall ironing has been shown, this combination of process has reduced the manufacturing cost the cartg. case up to a large extent."
