According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present invention relates to a process for producing a polymeso-lactide (PML), to a polymeso-lactide obtainable or obtained according to such process and to various uses thereof. The process in particular involves a step of polymerising a portion of a purified meso-lactide stream, that has been separated from a crude lactide mixture and subsequently purified, to form polymeso-lactide. In certain embodiments, the present process further involves the preparation of a lactide mixture by blending another portion of the purified meso- lactide with a lactide-rich stream, and also involves the polymerisation of such mixture to form a polylactide (PLA) that comprises polymerised meso-lactide. The present invention also relates to a polylactide comprising polymerised meso-lactide obtainable or obtained according to such process, and uses thereof."
