MUMBAI, India, March 14 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202617003633 A) filed by Momentum Technologies, Inc., Carrollton, U.S.A., on Jan. 13, for 'process for membrane-based recycling of battery material.'

Inventor(s) include Miles, Robert; Coleman, Kenneth; Grumbles, William; and Ayyakudi Ravichandran, Sankaranarayanan.

The application for the patent was published on March 13, under issue no. 11/2026.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present disclosure relates to methods for recovering metals from used lithium-ion batteries and related electronic wastes. The methods provide modular, inexpensive, and energy efficient means for recovering up to 99.9% pure lithium, nickel, cobalt, and manganese in the form of various oxides or salts, e.g., phosphates, sulfates, or hydroxides. The methods produce nearly zero waste, as many of the recovered waste products can be purified and/or recycled."

The patent application was internationally filed on June 28, 2024, under International application No.PCT/US2024/036140.
