MUMBAI, India, Jan. 23 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202511121287 A) filed by Engineers India Limited, New Delhi, on Dec. 3, 2025, for 'process for conditioning and deodorizing oil and fat.'

Inventor(s) include Khandelwal, Akshya; Paul, Sanjib; Jana, Subimal; Gupta, Ravi Kant; and Kumar, Anil.

The application for the patent was published on Jan. 23, under issue no. 04/2026.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present disclosure discloses an improved and energy-efficient process for the pretreatment, conditioning, and purification of waste oils and fats for the removal of metallic impurities, gums, and grease. The process comprises introducing a feedstock such as waste oils, used cooking oils, animal, marine or plant based oilsand fats, palm fatty acid distillate (PFAD), Tree born oil and other low-grade oils and fats, either independently or blended into a decanting section where the feedstock is mixed with hot water and dilute sulphuric acid, followed by heating and three-phase decantation for bulk impurity removal. The separated oil phase is subjected to a super-degumming section in which controlled acid and water treatment under stirring converts non-hydratable phospholipids into hydratable forms and removes metallic residues. The resulting oil is then passed through a hot-water wash column and centrifugal separator to obtain a treated, deodorized oil of high purity and stability."
